Australian actress Mary Ward died at age106

We have lost one more star today. Famous Australian stage and screen actor Mary Ward died at the age of 106. She was a Television actress. She was also among the Australia’s first female media voices.

Mary Ward was born on 6th March 1915. She was also known as Mary Ward Breheny. Mary has lived two world wars and two pandemics in her life. She was from Fremantle.

Ward had studied acting in Perth and London. After that, she returned to Australia with the upcoming Second World War. There she has a friendship with Lionel Logue who is a speech therapist and King George VI who appeared in the film ‘The King Speech’. At her early, stage of life she became first lady to join the ABC radio announcers. She became famous because of her broadcasts of Australian Armed force. She earned the title “Force’s Sweetheart”. Later, she used to do many stages play and Australian films at ABC television. Ward is remembered for her role as Jeanette in Prison drama Prisoner: Cell Block H in 1979-1981. She had also joined the Melbourne Theatre Company. She had also done the projects like Sons and Daughters, Neighbors and Young Doctors.

She gave an interview to THE HERALD SON in 2016 at her 101 birthday. She was remembering her first time, how she was reading the script with her cast and had a vibe that they were going to do something great.

She has been retired from acting in 2000. She had passed 6 decades in her acting career. She was 105 years old in 2020 and one of the oldest living actresses in Australia.

Everyone is remembering her today on her sudden demise. Her family revealed that she died peacefully on Monday morning at Melbourne.

Her Nephew Mark Breheny stated to TV tonight about the actual personality of Ward. He told “she was an independent and career minded woman who have reached the height of success of her own and embarked her mark in the world.

Many of her family members, friends and fans remember her on her last day. And she always be alive in the hearts of her fans and family members.

She was one of the very old actress known for her work in the movies. She died peacefully as informed by the family members on the social media. Many came to offer tribute to the actress on the Twitter. She will be always remembered for her work and acting.
