Might You Eat These Unbelievably Cute Fish-Formed Dumplings?

A self-taught Taiwanese woman recently shared photos of her detailed and incredibly adorable fish-shaped dumplings, which rightly went viral.

Dumplings come in all shapes and sizes, from the classic half moon to the creepy-looking alien warusobo dumplings. Have you ever seen dumplings cuter than Minmin Chang’s from Taipei? The Taiwanese woman took social media by storm last week after posting photos of her adorable fish-shaped dumplings as well as detailed do-it-yourself instructions. The problem is, no matter how tasty these treats are, there is no way I will eat them. You look damn good!

Filled with a mixture of minced pork, shrimp, water chestnut, garlic, and coriander, these realistic-looking dumplings are made by hand using simple tools like a straw, chopstick, and scissors.

But first the autodidact prepares the dough and leaves it under a damp cloth for 10 minutes. She then smooths it with the blade of a large knife and applies food coloring.

How it gets the right shape is a mystery to me, but the most impressive thing is that the cute fish looks even better after cooking or steaming.

Minmin Chang’s original Facebook post had almost 40,000 likes, over 8,000 comments, and is still shared on various social networks.

As you can imagine, most people are in awe of Chang’s abilities, and some are dying to have a clear recipe so they can recreate the goodies themselves. Unfortunately, the automatic translation doesn’t reveal too much about the sweet dumplings.

I’m pretty sure Minmin Chang, who apparently teaches watercolor painting and enjoys cooking in her spare time, will divulge the secret of her creations either for free or as part of a cookery, since so much attention is drawn to her amazing fish dumplings in class. If you can delight your friends and family with goodies, I’d say paying for a course is money well spent.
