Muscle Women – A Distinctive Health-Themed Bar Staffed by Feminine Weight-Coaching Fans

Muscle Girls is a Tokyo-based women’s gym that doubles as a fitness-themed bar with a group of young, muscular women.

Japan is famous for its wide variety of themed bars and cafes, from black cat cafes to cafes dedicated to women’s thighs, but Muscle Girls is the first and only bar in the country dedicated to female weightlifting. Founded by a young fitness enthusiast named Eri Muscle, Muscle Girls started out as a women’s gym but recently switched to the entertainment industry and opened their own unique bar as well as a popular YouTube channel. Photos and videos of the venue went viral earlier this year, largely because of its staff, which is made up entirely of muscular, fitness-loving girls.

Eri Muscle told Japanese magazine Bunshun that when she was 19 she started going to the gym to lose weight. Originally she only focused on aerobics, but it got boring very quickly, so she started weight training as well, which she found more exciting. Soon she started getting fatter instead of thinner, but that didn’t bother her in the least as the passion for weightlifting had become much more important.

Now Eri Muscle runs her own gym, which last year evolved into the Muscle Girls Bar, a unique, colorful venue that offers both a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks and fitness equipment for decoration and props. However, the bar’s main attraction is the staff, which is made up of young fitness enthusiasts who love to flaunt their muscles.

Eri Muscle, Yota Muscle, Juriko Muscle and the other “muscle” girls prefer and serve not only the drinks, but also offer a show for the guests, flex their muscles, dance and train. Muscle Girls also has a list of activities that customers can participate in for a fee, including coaching the girls, tipping their favorite muscles, feeding protein shakes from a syringe, and taking pictures with the girls.

The Muscle Girls Bar is only available by reservation, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, they have been forced to interact with their fans through social media, mostly YouTube and Instagram, but according to their website, the venue will be back for patrons this month .

Muscular staff has become very popular in the restaurant and bar business. Last year we wrote about this Thai restaurant that relied on muscular delivery men to survive the Covid-19 pandemic, and about Staneemeehoi, another Bangkok restaurant known for its hefty waiters.
