Why do good people pass away soon? Jockey Miguel Mena passed away at age 34 today on 2nd November, 2021. He was a great person with skills of top level in his field. Sadly, Mena died because of a road accident at westbound lanes at Louisville, Kentucky. It was a drastic death, he passed away instantly after the accident on road.
Miguel Mena was a great Jockey player, who had almost 2000 wins under his sleeves over the years. He has been in the sport since 18 years. His debut was in US tracks after he came from Peru at the age of 17. He won his first race that time in 2003. Long time passed and his winning streak continued over the years. There was no one like him, and he was one legend of Jockey racing, sadly he isn’t with us anymore.
As per the reports, Mena parked his vehicle at the sideways of eastbound lanes of the highway. He then on bare foot crossed the road, hopped the wall and as soon as he was crossing the westbound lane, a car came and struck him hard. He died on spot. Currently, there is no charges held on the driver and the incident is considered an ‘accident’. Still the police authorities are passing up investigation to understand what exactly has happened.
Miguel Mena met with another accident in 2018 when he broke almost eight bones of his ankle and heel. This incident took place in March 2018. It took Miguel 8 months to recover and get back to his saddle. The dedication of the jockey paid off after he reconsidered his fame in the field in February 2020 after winning first Randy Romero Pure Courage Award.
Colleagues of Mena have shown their tribute to him. He will be remembered as he was more of legend than a player. Mike Anderson, president of Churchill Downs racetrack said We are all devastated to hear of the news that Miguel passed away. He was a champion of life, and an inspiration to us all.
